TCS, Finally . .

I'm a TCSite now! Bona fide! I finally did it. Sorry, that would be a wrong statement. I can't and shouldn't attribute it to myself only. How can I forget all those friends and foes and family members who helped, motivated and stood by me during all these years.
My Dad never had a doubt that my being part of TCS is just a matter of time and that I'm destined to go higher up. Thanks Dad for all the support. Thank you for listening to me and my problems at office, the technical nitty gritties of the IT world and always coming up with some words of solace or advice. I'm not waiting for the Father's day to tell you (and the world) that how lucky I'm to have you by my side as my father . .
Vinay brought me to TCS. My being a TCSite was initially his (and not my) dream. True, he had been loosing a bit of hope towards the end of the crusade, but so was I. Although his hopes went a bit low, his enthusiasm didn't. He had started looking for other ways to get me in. Thanks buddy, I kept the flag flying more because of your and dad's faith in me and my capabilities than for my own self. I'm really lucky to have a friend like you.
My colleague cum friends like Kavi and Vivek how stood by me all through. I hope I've been able to prove myself worthy of your trust!
The list could have been long, however I thought it better to cut it short . .

Hi Again . .

Hi again! A lot of things have happened worth mentioning since I last talked to you. I got the much awaited offer letter from TCS, came to know that I have multiple stones in my gall bladder, got operated for the same, spent most of the Durga Puja in bed, spent some quality time at home with parents and others of the family; including my cousin's newborn kid (did I mention him to you? I think I didn't; Sorry) and also missed the date I was supposed to join TCS.
That's quite a bit that happened in the last few weeks, isn't it? However, I'll update you guys about these things later. As of now I'm a bit busy as I've to fix up a few as soon as possible. See you soon . .

A day to party . .

Yesterday was a party day for me . .
It was the first time that our team joined any party conducted outside the office. I enjoyed a lot at the bowling arena. It was a great time. To view the photos view the link below . .

Along with this I got a call during the party indicating that my case has proggressed a bit ahead and I might get a formal offer from TCS anytime next week. (Refer to my post "A Gift for VB . ." dated 5th August.) So double party for me :-)

Rains . . finally!

So the rain Gods didn't forget Delhi after all! After flooding Rajasthan on the west and Orissa in the east, it was finally Delhi's turn. It has been strange that a place like Rajasthan, which is known for its problems with scarce rainfall, got so much rains this time that it flooded out there. Its hard to believe that Rajasthan, known for its deserts if facing floods. And look at Delhi. It just rained a countable number of days this season, and the weather was still hot; until yesterday . .
It has been raining heavily since yesterday and it seems that we can hope say goodbye to the summer heat for this year. No, we're not having floods like Rajasthan, but the torrents still continue as I write. It has effected the weather out here and I can feel that this is the beginning of the end of this summer. It was a bit elongated summer this time, extending to the end of the regular rainy season. Hope the winters are good . .

One more thing . . I'm going home this Dusshera. I booked my tickets yesterday. It'll be about six months since mine last visit home. The longest interval till date. Will be going for a long time too. :-) Would probably be a bit hectic before and after that, but who cares. I'm going home and that it, period.

Connected to the world

Hi all! Now I have net connectivity (256 Kbps) at home. I can now talk to you guys more frequently.

A Gift for VB . .

Back again! This time with something to cheer about. Although some formalities are pending, but I'm into TCS (Asia's biggest software firm). Finally! Dad would be the most happiest person. So'd be Vinay. Especially after I called him up first and passed on this news as his birthday gift (A few hours in advance, though). I however dedicate this success to my mom. She'd have been the happiest person if she had been in her proper senses. Mom, your son has finally got a job which you can go out and tell all those people out there.

Anyway, I hope VB is enjoying his B'day today. I gave him the best gift that I could. Since the day I came to know that they're planning to take me in, I prayed to God that things are confirmed before 5th August. And look how God listened to me. The timing couldn't have been better. Thanks God, you're such a darling.

Ok folks! See you later. Hope to be back soon. We're planning to get net connectivity at home. Just waiting for the service provider to make the connections. So hope the next time I talk to you, it'll be from home . .

A trip to Mumbai . .

I finally went to Mumbai on a short visit. Of course, to meet Ritvik. I took quite a few photographs. Will post them some other time. I'm adding this post via mail. Just wanted to let everybody know that I finally met my nephew face to face. I don't need to tell that he's cute. The photos in the links I posted few days back are proof enough. I also saw a few places like the Gateway of India and Nariman point. Also celebrated Ritvik's 3rd birth month. I just loved the 28 odd hours I spent with him. More about him and my trip later . .

Akshardham . .

Finally got a chance to visit Akshardham today. Since the complex was inagurated towards the end of last year, I'd been longing to visit the place. However, I could never manage to find someone to accompany me. Made a few plans, but they failed. Today I finally made past the gates . .
Actually, Vinay had to halt here en-route to Mumbai, and although I didn't have a hard and fast plan, it somehow materialised. I grabed the opertunity with both hands when it came my way.
Although we didn't have much time to properly roam arround the whole complex (its quite big), I found it qite interesting. The marble work in the main temple is just amazing. Considering that its a modern era constuction, I'd not like to compare it with Konark and the likes, however, the intricacy of the marble-work leaves you spelbound. It's too bad that they do not let you photograph out there, the place is beautiful. I'd love to go there again . .

A blog . .

Found this blog today . .
http://mightyillusions.blogspot.com/
I loved it. Maybe you'd too.

Back . .

It has been quite a few days since I last updated this site. Quite a few things happened in between.
My dad is a retired person now. My parents therefore shifted from Allahabad to Kolkata. Almost half of my life was spent in Allahabad. I'll miss the city and all the sweet-n-sour memories attached to it.
My parents will also need time to get settled in Kolkata. Although it is not a new city for them, but still . . And for Rawyon, everything is new and different.
Two more incidents worth mentioning . .
My nephew now has a name: Ritvik Bajpai.
I could access 'net from home once again. I finally managed to reinstall all the required devices and software.

Cheerio . .

I'm an uncle now . .

I'm an uncle now. On Thusday, the 16th of March 2006, Ratna Bhabhi gave birth to a cute little nephew of mine. I'm dying to meet him and focus my new camera (which I'd bought in his honour) at him. Now all that I've to do is go to Bombay! And till I can't do that I'll have to satisfy myself with these photos . .

A great match . .

Today will go down as a very special day in the history of cricket. It was he first time a team crossed the 400 run mark in a 50 over innings, and inspite of that, lost. After the hard hitting Australians scored a marvelous and record breaking 434 in the stipulated 50 overs losing just four wickets, I’d never thought that South Africa will even put up a decent fight-back, let alone win the match. Especially as South Africa has the tendency to yield under pressure. Today however was another day. The South African team was determined to prove all its critics wrong. They went on and on. Australia were looking helpless before the onslaught. Though the Australians kept fighting till the last ball, though they kept on taking wickets (as many as nine) the day belonged to the hosts. It seemed that along with the jubilant crowd, even God was with the Proteas. Inspite of losing 9 wickets, they managed to score 438 with one ball to spare. Poor Aussies, they probably held the record of the highest total in One-dayers for the shortest span of time. Isn't this another world record? Well, there was another world record, I believe. Lewis gave away 113 runs in 10 overs, surpassing the recently created record by Murlidharan. His figures at the end of the match was 10 0 113 0 at the rate of 11.30 per over. The match as a whole would go down as one of the most exciting matches in the history of cricket ever. It's sad that I didn't watch the complete match. I hope to catch up on the highlights. I won't be missing many balls that way. ;-)

My first entry . .

I created this blog today. I've been thinking about creating my own blogspace and finally I did it today. Now I need some topic to talk about.
